you should be able to just take the serpintine belt off and behind the tentioner theres usally 3 bolts that hold it on-you dont replace just the pully-the bracket and pully are one peice the springs in the bracket thats what causes tention-just unbolt it take it to a bone yard-get a newer one thats the same and bolt it back on and replace the belt-not to hard to do att all and definatly not remotely hard enough to take it to a mechanic for $200-hope this helps ya

Hmmm, I know 2 Saturn owners ('96 and '01) who had to replace their tension pulley.. Perhaps there's a problem here.

Go to a library and get Chilton's Auto Repair for 1994, and look up how to replace it. There will be pictures and step-by-step instructions. You can usually copy them at the library, and then have a permanent copy to use in the future.

Essentially, you remove some of the things on the top and right side of the engine to get to the pulley. (Protective covers and the like). You will need wrenches and a ratchet set with long (9 or 12 inches) extensions.

The pulley itself costs about 40 or 50 dollars, and if you have never done this work, or if you don't have friends to help you, then perhaps you should consider paying a mechanic.

Good Luck!

Better yet, buy a book at a parts store. You'll need it for something else anyway.

And you'll save about 150 bucks.
