This means into the muscle, whereas intravenous means into the vein, thus probably into your arm or gluteal muscle in your backside. Get an experienced person to do it or show you how.

An intramuscular (IM) injection is a shot where the needle goes into the muscle layer under the skin in order to deliver medicine. This type of injection can be given by a health care professional or a patient can self-inject. Intramuscular injections are deeper than subcutaneous injections.

Spread the skin and dart the needle in 90 degrees into the muscle unless you're administering it to an infant/child/someone really skinny. Make sure you know exactly where you're going to give it because there are different sites to administer the IM. Take into consideration the person's age, weight, and amount of drug. When you decide on a site, know your landmarks because you don't want to hit a blood vessel. Don't forget to aspirate and if you see blood, don't continue with that injection. Make sure you know what you're giving because some IMs require the z-track method.

If you are giving it to someone else, try the butt. Have them stand in front of you with their toes pointed towards the opposite foot, making sure the knees touch and bend over from the waist (makes it almost impossible to tighten the muscles) inject the medication into the thickest part of the bum.

depends on where; side of the arm, squeeze and area and inject. You can also go halfway between the knee and hip and go in the side of the leg. I wouldn't go in the posterior gluteal area (back/butt area) as medically you should be shown how to do this as to not hit a nerve.
