It varies greatly, depending on the type of beer and the price at which it's served, but it's always a significant margin. A sixteen gallon keg may cost anywhere from $60(US) to $150, depending on the type of beer and where you buy it. At an average price of around $90, each pint of beer costs the proprietor about $0.70. I don't know where you live, but where I am, a pint of beer can cost anywhere from $2.00 to $6.00. At an average price of $4.00, the markup is 571%.

Basically, all bar sales experience an extremely high margin, but a very low profit per sale. Thus, profit margin on sales is much less important for a bar than it is for most other businesses. Bars generally make money by keeping their sales volume high, not their markup.
