Basically porn is degrading, abusive, and the normalisation of brutalising women. It encourages men to view women as mere objects for sex any time and any place. It also tells lies about women and their sexuality, the main one being that when women say no we really mean yes Oh come on lets perpetuate the rape myth, why don't you. Wake up men before it's too late and become a real man who does not need to see a woman being brutalised and degraded AND pretending she likes it to get their 'kicks.Men think that the world revolves around their **** and masturbation and quite frankly I'm sick of it. And as an ex porn actress i know what i am talking about

It's a very good question, and one that poses some serious issues. Porn is big business, and many are being caught in its trap. Most women, I would think, do not want to look like sleazy porn stars, but both women and men can become fixated because of sexual addiction, which is often as a direct result of the porn industry. It is not just something that affects women - men can equally become victims of this sexualised culture, since they are brought up to believe that sex is macho and the more 'notches on the bedpost', the more of a man one is. It's all lies which just fuel the sex industry, but by the time people realise it, they can already be hooked.
Anyone who feels strongly about this matter and who lives in the UK should make a real effort to turn out to this year's mediamarch on Saturday 14 October. Many people will be marching through London to demonstrate against the proliferation of porn and sex in the media. Check out www.mediamarch.org.uk for all the information.

Unfortunately the truth is sex sells, i would much rather see ordinary everyday people in these advertisements and films than these enhanced males and fake breasted woman, i must say its not just woman who are made to feel inferior to these over sexed porn stars, a lot of men are left feeling inadequate in body and performance as much as woman, we must remember while the porn industry is mainly run by men, the people they employ are mostly women, so the blame should run both way`s. I am not totally against porn when advertised in the right way, as long as its out of the reach and sight of children, unfortunately this is not always true, as we all know it only takes one wrong word or click of the mouse to unintentionally access all sorts of pornographic images along with other nasty sites. The protection is there it just needs to be enforced.

This issue is truly bigger than just porn. It would be a huge mountain to take down. Sex sells and it is not only to the men. Some women want to look like these other women and therefore, they get sucked into the retail as well. The best way to start is at home with lots of acceptance of your little girls just as they are. No ifs ands or buts about it, accept them regardless of weight, appearance, and any flaws, so they can grow up to be strong and secure in themselves. If they love themselves they will have no need to be influenced by porn and men who love it.

Men are facing the same issue. It's not so much focused on porn, as it is on the popular celebrities. They're skinny and muscular and toned, they have perfect hair, skin, teeth, breasts... I've met a lot of men who want to lose weight just as avidly as women, who want to tone up and get those perfect pecs and washboard abs. It's not really porn's fault. It's... the world we live in's fault.
Yeah, the women you see in a porn magazine are airbrushed perfection, but no more so than the men and women you see in Ambercrombie and Fitch or perfume and cologne ads. Ever checked out a Playgirl just for the hell of it? They're the same way.
Don't blame the porn industry for something started by the mainstream.
Also, a quote I picked up somewhere, just for someone's amusement. "If they took all the porn off the internet, there would be only one website left: www.bringbacktheporn.com"

I don't think you can blame porn for poor body image. What is wrong with a man (or a woman for that matter) enjoying the way a beautiful woman looks? You forget that the people participating in porn are choosing to do so. If you don't like it don't look. But I would rather see people having a good time on TV than fighting with each other and being mean.

This is not a new thing. Romans (for example) were a very hedonistic race and humans have always been fascinated by the forbidden. For example, as children we are fascinated with our bowel movements, our genitals and other peoples. As we grow into adults we develop our fascination into other taboo subjects like cannibalism and pornography.
Women's body issues cannot be blamed on pornography though, it is the individual woman's issue. I have no problem with pornography and how it shows the human form at it's most intimate - and I am no oil painting I have stretch marks, love handles and a fat bottom - and as long as porn is kept on the top shelf and it hurts no one,( and lets face it, porno films are not on prime time TV, it is a choice made by an individual to watch it) who are we to judge? Women put pressure on themselves and if they choose to pay attention to the lolly pop headed, silicon boobed women that are in some of these films and in our magazines, more fool them.
Be healthy and happy and love yourselves for who you already are and what you look like, because everybody is beautiful!

I think that many of the outraged 'I-want-my-porn- you-can't-stop-me- wah!' authors here have unintentionally answered your question, Army. They don't speak out against it because it benefits them. They don't care if it hurts women. They don't care if it costs women dearly. They think they should be able to have whatever they want regardless of the consequences, and never look deeper into the roots and meanings of their appetite for the sale of female flesh.
Luckily, there are many people around like you and I too, who can speak the truth to power. Porn is not a right of yours. You do not have the rights to women's bodies. And porn can be stopped.

I agree with you.
There seem to be a huge demand for porn, not only with men, women also purchase it.
As for the types of porn, there are many types of porn anyone can purchas from very large women to midgets.
It's just the skinny women they flash around in advertising.
Hope this helps.

perhap all women should wear jilbabs, that way they dont have to worry about what men will think of them.
Everything went downhill from the time that 'The London Gentlemans Pictograph' showed a drawing of an immodestly displayed womans ankle, back in 1878... We have been subject to an endless barage of filth ever since.
God Bless Queen Victoria!!
