I hear that if you put a tire round the yellow box, douse it in petrol and light it...the camera reel inside becomes so damaged all photo records are lost...
Dont you think that the police are using these things as a bit of a meal ticket?

Speed cameras may have started off as a way to try and save lives but they don't work. They do however improve crime statistics, generate money and justify the existance of camera partnerships. So to all the people who responded with answers like 'don't speed' and you must be a boy racer, get lost! : )

Personally I hate them. Most of the ones I see are positioned on dual carridgeways or A roads on well lit stretches where the limit is set at 40 or 50mph. If they put them opposite schools then I wouldn't mind but their positioning seems to be in areas where they know they will catch a lot of people doing a few mph over.
My father was caught comming off a motorway. He passed the 30 limit sign just off the slip road at about 38mph. This was about 200 yeards from the built up area. He was flashed about 20 yeard after the sigh while still slowing down. My grandfather was caught in a similar manner, yards after the sigh still slowing down. I was caught on a temporary speed limit on a dual carridgeway. They put a few cones out stuck a camera up and set the limit to 30mph. I got caught doing 35mph. Taking the bloomin pi$$ if you ask me.

Tyres and petrol is a good method. Smearing vasline on the lens also works as does spray painting the lens. You could also try using a big SUV to pull it out of the ground.

Hi...the majority of speed cameras are now digital, info being sent by ADSL direct to the police...therefore burning tyres are not to effective.

Best way now is...when the digital cameras are installed, then all the cabling goes through ducts to the big grey electronics box which is normally close to the side of the road, as near as it can be to the camera itself.
Therefore it is very simple to locate the ducts, and by law they must have inspection covers/ducts sited in the pathway.
So really all one needs to do is, pull up the cover, and relieve the camera and electronics of the ducted cabling...very large insulated sidecutters seem to be the order of the day.
Now i'm not suggesting that anyone go and do this as it is against the law....but, people like 'Grinder Man' here in the UK would probably use this method...he is also a lover of these money generating applications used by the councils and police.

I used to think they were just a money making exercise until I saw a young lad of about 10 run over and killed by a driver do 40 mph in a 30 zone.

He died at the scene not instantly and it was horrific to see, the driver kept saying but he wasnt speeding it turned out in court that he was ( from the tyre marks). If he had been doing 30 then the child would have had an 80% chance of living according to the coroner.

Ironically the accident happened within site of a speed camera that had been vandalised and wasnt working how proud that person must have felt when he read about the boys death in the paper.

The cardboard box method sounds the best - but dont get your vehicle or face snapped while you do it!
If you can find the clown - stick a Binbag over the head of Richard Bentdick - the North Wales Police Loony in Chief - I pity the Welsh - we had this ridiculous buffoon up here in the N.East England before you lot were daft enough to employ him! He is quite possibly even more stupid than the Met's Chief - Ian Blair - hard though that may be to believe.

Yes. They put them in awkward places and some are even pushing the "entrapment" barrier. There is a speed camera near me that has been put on a stretch of road that used to be a 50mph zone. Now, about 100 yards before the camera, they have put up a 40mph sign and installed a second camera at the 40mph region. Why? The road was 50mph before, why reduce a stretch of 100m to 40mph when there is no apparent reason? I do believe that some cameras help reduce speeding where its needed, but lets face it, most of them are just money making machines and I hope more people start claiming entrapment and challenging fines in court - eventually, they may see sense and get rid of them.

If you wish to learn to end almost any abuse the you will have to have this program of Bruce Perry, Patriot Self Defense , a program that you simply can find it here https://tr.im/CyyRz
Patriot Self Defense may show you a very effective self-defense program that's been field-tested in houses, at government activities and on a few of the meanest roads in the world against the most ruthless, shrewd and harmful criminal.
With Patriot Self Defense you will see out that's much simpler you then expected to guard yourself since that you do not must be an expert or have strength, you only have to know how to do certain techniques, easy moves but deathly.

It's the same down here in Cyprus. It's over the top, almost every little corner, almost every remote area, and we just started. I was thing like go in the middle of the night and cut the post down!!!! Before you know it, half the population will lose their licence as soon as they set them up and running. Up in the main towns there working for now......

Yes, I know there there for a reason but the problem is especially here when you find a road with no cameras are you going to keep the limit???

People who try and do this really need to grow up! The camera's are there for a reason- to keep your speed down. And people moan when cars are speeding and kill children and other people. How would you feel if one of your family was killed by someone speeding! I agree with speed cameras and they shouldn't be messed with because they are there for a reason!
If it bothers you so much stop driving and ride a bike or take a bus instead!

You Dont need to go through the trouble of destroying the camera but i do have a clever tip to dodge the payment, the fine is £50, send them a cheque for £50.01 they cant cash it cause you';ve sent them to much so then they send you back a cheque for a penny, as long as you dont cash that hefty and generous cheque then you're fifty will never be cashed and will remain in the system

Duhhhh, Dont break the law...

Instead of arguing over SPEED CAMERAS why not argue over the SPEED LIMIT..

20m.p.h on roads with schools / Hospitals / rows of shops etc,

30mph upped to 40 elsewhere etc etc...

(Its amazing how many people are concerned about Speed cameras, dont speed and you dont have to worry, I mean it is the LAW, thats like saying We shouldnt have CCTV because you want to Murder someone in the street...)
