What a wonderful question. I would either pay someones rent or buy them groceries that you know they have what they need.

I believe it would be better to pay their rent or buy their groceries instead of giving them cash. That way you know the cash is being used in a positive fashion.

Depends who it is. If you do not trust them, pay the rent/groceries for them. If you trust them, give them cash.
A lot of people like to take advantage.

I think it might be good to help them find a job that pays enough to cover all their bills.
