If you are talking about a particular group of rich people, such as in the movie industry, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills..... they are Mean & Greedy because they often lack these qualities:
**Meaningful and Loving relationships
**Parents and family that instilled values and respect for others while they were growing up
**The ability to openly express their true desires for fear of seeming weak to other rich andpowerful people
**The more money you have, the more money you want: thus greed and "cheap" start to set into their thoughts
**Rich people feel above everyone else and don't care who they "use" or "belittle" because they have been taught through life that no one really matters; it's all about who has the most money.
Being rich and growing up in a family with no moral values except watch out for people trying to take your money or favors tends to make people bitter and greedy. Most rich families spend little time with each other. Mom and Dad have "carreers" and the kids have private schools and Nannys. The nurturing of a young child by a parent is passed to an employeed servant who handles the day by day questions and growing up situations since the parents are usually at work or dinner parties. There is little to none discipline or consistant guidelines given from parents to the children since the time spent with each other is not structured or scheduled in a timely fashion. Rich people need to be treated as your equal by you and if they cannot accept your ideas and feelings, tell them to stop and look at what life and true issues and concerns mean in comparison to expensive shopping trips and fancy vacations. Ask them to help someone less fortunate (Buy them lunch or some practical shoes) and see how they re-act. Greed, I think, stems from a low level of self confidence or an unhappy relationship or both. When you are rich and unhappy at home or with your life, you tend to be mean and short tempered with others you see who appear happier in their life.
One Last Thought: Many rich people are wonderful and caring individuals who have been brought up with good values and know they have been "Blessed" with wealth. They are the ones you see on T.V. and movies over and over again because their work ethics and friendly attitudes command respect and they give respect in return. They donate and give their time (free) to charity events and organizations that help needy people, animals and the planet.
Rich and nice...or...Rich and mean..... the difference is easy to see and feel in your gut.
Remember: You cannot judge a book by it's cover..... open it and see what's inside.

I don't think all rich people are mean and greedy. I do believe they worked hard for their money and do get quite upset when someone else believes they should give some of their money to them. Also if every time you went somewhere, you were asked for money, that you too might become mean. Until one walks in their shoes, one does not really know why they are perceived as mean and greedy.

You're stereotyping. Rich people are only considered "greedy" cuz thy have what poor people don't... and aren't sharing. They are mean for the same reaon... not sharing. Even though most of the rich people out there give to many organizations... for tax purposes.

it's because they feel that if they help the needy and poor they'll be laughed at by their friend and they don't wanna loose pride but some other rich people could have been Christians but because they become rich the think about money.

Values are most of the time corrupted by worldy pleasures . . .I admire people who remain grounded in humility despite their success in whatever undertakings. Sadly, there are many people who think that money is the ultimate goal to attain happiness to the point of disregarding emotions and sensibilities. but just remember dear, no one can make you feel bad without your consent. . live and let live . . . be accountable for your actions . . . good luck!
