Oh Dear - the first thing I thought of was that maybe your milk flow was too much for your baby but by the sounds of things, you are bottle feeding anyway. She might be having problems with wind, this could be the problem for her chocking. Hun really, best thing to do is get her to a doctor sothat he can check her throat too - she might have a reflux problem. Its not fair for you to sit with a problem that is causing so much upset and could quite easily be resolved. Get to a doctor xxxx

I'm a bit confused like other responders - are you just passively breastfeeding your girl? Is she choking when you nurse her as well as with bottles? I would say maybe you have a fast let-down reflex if it was just while nursing, so I've heard to express your milk before nursing so that it wont come out as fast. She has a problem with bottles too, but is this just water you've tried giving her or your milk as well? I am VERY surprised about what your doctor has told you. Every baby book I've every read says not to give babies water, it can be life threatening if a baby is given too much water! Never before 4 mths, occasionally thereafter if you are in hot weather but not very much.... and certainly not mixed with some sort of pancake syrup!!! I'm not sure if it's something you would think about, but maybe you should change pediatricians.... I would.
I wish I knew more about your situation, perhaps you could add some more details onto your question? Have you already talked to the Dr about possible reflux disorders? If not, do so now. And in the meantime, you should NOT give your baby water, but express your milk and give it to her using a spoon or a medecine dropper (which they recommend anyways instead of the bottle for babies younger than 5 wks so that your baby wont have nipple confusion as drinking from a bottle is very different from nursing). I wish you and your little one the best.

First of all, why are you giving water? It can be dangerous for babies to drink water at this young age (too much water can cause problems including oral water intoxication) and syrup is not good for them to drink, even if it is just a thickener. Water should never be given to a baby under 2 months of age. I'm very surprised that a doctor would recommend that!
Is your baby only feeding from bottles? Or are you breastfeeding and using bottles as a supplement? Because if you're breastfeeding, you can always stop the bottles for a couple weeks until she is older and maybe can handle the faster flowing milk. You can also try another brand of nipples to see if that might help her.

WTF are you giving your 3 week old baby water for???? With pancake syrup??? Your doctor needs to go back to school. Jeeze!
When she is eating the breastmilk, are you nursing or giving it in a bottle? If you are nursing, you may have a forceful let down. Check out this link for info on it. It helped me alot. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/fast-letdown.html
If it is in a bottle, I'm sorry I can't help. My DS had a bottle, but only after about 5 months. I've never bottle fed such a tiny baby. I do remember someone mentioned that boiling the nipples might shrink the hole, but I don't know if it would work with silicon nipples.

My son started scuffling with his sleep at around 2 or 3 months so its everyday for a 7 week old to try this. particular she would be spoiled yet on condition which you carry her each and every of the time. while you're purely conserving her to place her to sleep and wide awake cases to play then its not likely to break her. have you ever tried a pacifier or swing? A 7 week old cant self soothe so no you shouldnt permit her cry till you get too under pressure. Then stroll out of the room and bypass lower back in after a minute to calm your self down.

I have not met a newborn yet that did not aspirate while drinking water, There is a term we use when we choke on liquid, "went down the wrong pipe" in our throats we have a little valve that closes off the lungs when we drink, sometimes you need to thicken the babies water so it goes down slower.

You need to take your baby to the doctor it can be something simple or something serious such as nasogastric issues. Do not wait. Call this morning.
