I wasn't too into it. I like stories whose messages are subtle, whereas I felt like this one was bludgeoning me with it!

Readable but Bach is a navel gazing dolt. This was his best work. Way too contrived and self consciously poignant. Only for the very sentimental and those who like their philosophy to come from Hallmark. Given the time it came out, I would say it was read by alot of people partaking in the whackie tobacco.

My goodness what dim dark corner did you you drag that out of. It's a beautiful story of triumph over adversity.
Great movie also. A fantastic uplifting story told in music much like "Peter & the Wolf". Enjoy with heart-felt feeling.

YES i read it many years ago. VERY NICE BOOK . try to get the film version even better;nearly no talking but excellent music from neil diamondYOU WILL ENJOY
