Masturbation during the intercourse process is primary a type of "foreplay". There is nothing wrong with that but if you feel uncomfortable and do not enjoy it the best thing you can do is confront him. Tell him how you feel and if he cares about you he will try and find other foreplay acts to spice up your sex life.

Since you are in a relationship and a relationship requires effort from both, I think it's something you might want to try. It's a give and take situation. Perhaps you can masturbate in front of each other that way you won't feel like you're not good enough. Everyone is different, so maybe this is a huge turn on or fantasy of his. Also, I think it would be wise to speak with him about it. Perhaps there is something you do that he doesn't like, but does it anyway because he loves you. The only way to find out is if you talk to him and experiment with each other.

Hi, a good sex life is all about harmony and enjoying what you do with each other and discussing these things together. Its a learning curve and a demonstration of how to do things is not amiss but if something is happening in your relationship that you are uncomfortable with you need to chat it out with your partner.
