Although the New England, and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by people of english orgin, by 1700 the regions had evolved into 2 distinct societies. Why did this difference in development occur?

expand your ideas on religion. Ex: in New England, Puritan values created close- knit communities (congregationalism). In these communities, schools were est. and trade flourished (contrast this with the south.) Also, New England was founded by families, not single men looking to get rich quick (influenced societal values.) Hope this helps!

if you're allowed to study historic fiction, attempt some thing by skill of Ann Rinaldi. She's were given some tremendous books: "A destroy with Charity" (about the Salem witch trials of 1692-1693) and "The fifth of March" (about the Boston massacre). the important characters are not fairly human beings, in spite of the indisputable fact that the novels are *very* lifelike and authentic.
