No they don't. I work with kids and somewhere along the way parents are failing to teach their children respect and responsibility.
***********
As a youth specialist, I was just at a convention of youth workers. The biggest complaint is that youth are not expected to be responsible or to respect others. This is an age old complaint, but it has gotten worse. Our society of self indulgence and 'feel good' thoughts make it ever harder to teach kids that they have a responsibility to others than themselves.

Some do teach their children to take responsibility, and some don't. It is an age old complaint. Especially in times of rapid change, such as the one we are living in now, the problems of raising children increase and traditional ways are often unsuccessful in coping with the changes. The results of social change are often beyond the reach of traditional parenting. It is not the fault of parents.
To raise children to grow up with a sense of responsibility, there has to be a successful home life. Today the world suffers 35 million refugees and 20 million fall under the auspices of the UNHCR (Homeless) 12 million live in refugee camps, fleeing persecution, armed conflict, murder, rape, and mutilation. The number of orphans in the world is increasing. The total number of African orphans due to AIDS, in 2003, amounted to 7,920,000.
The tragedies in the world from AIDS, Floods, Earthquake, Famine and Disease, far outstrip our ability to cope in a rational way. It is fruitless to complain about parent who raise their children without a sense of responsibility.
;-D Take care of your own. Let them know you love them, and that they are precious creations. Let responsibility take care of itself.

I accept as true with you, yet you're howling into the wind. the present college gadget has taken over the region of discern to the quantity of offering, transportation, breakfast, lunch, books, factors and a feeling of entitlement that disrespects another pupil. exchange will come purely whilst the mum and dad of those "everyday" childrens whose practise is being compromised sue the colleges. faculties purely pay attention to litigation, to not reason. whilst a discern can instruct that their infant's practise became harmed or lessened in some degree , that the ingredients weren't the two allotted or that their infant became endangered, we are able to finally see exchange. in my opinion i think of IEPS would desire to incorporate what the discern is to blame for at homestead and under what circumstances the infant would be despatched homestead. If the infant can not look after that , then they haven't any corporation being in an inclusive placing college. they'd desire to have faculties that deal particularly with risky and disruptive pupils. mum and dad who're not doing their job would desire to be held to blame via a similar rules that instructors and faculties are. In NCLB i actually have faith that the main appropriate to call for tutoring or pass to a stronger college would desire to be taken away if the infant refuses to return to college or do the artwork it is assigned. i think of the attempt rankings would desire to purely be taken from pupils who attend ninety % of the time or extra. it quite is organic attendance and putting lots of the duty on the discern and pupil.

Yeah, I think parenting is shifting towards parents who want to be buddy buddy with their children, rather than parents who want to be a strong authority figure. Thus, there is less reprimanding and [in those families] the parent - child relationship is weakening.
