To be clear: it's perfectly possible to be thin, or a good weight, and still have a poor diet. Any diet lacking in essential vitamins, minerals and fats will cause health problems.
Being obese is linked with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, fertility problems, stroke and some types of cancer

The biggest one is diabetes. Nearly all overweight people get this. And diabetes can lead to amputation of feet, so it's very very serious.
You can also get cholesterol problems, heart problems, etc. PLEASE get them help if they are unhealthy. Right now, obesity is the number one killer in the United States (it used to be smoking).

Chronic anemia.
Chronic fatigue.
Congestive heart failure.
Degenerative Joint Disease
Asthma
Diabetes
Scurvy
I really can't list them all. Weight is a factor in so many different diseases that it's impossible to remember all of them.

Everything that overweight could lead to like diabetes, heart diseases,... But mostly heart diseases (tell your friend to stop being a junk food disorder)
