Bamboo, Japanese knotweed and Russian vine are the fastest growing plants I know.

There are some desert plants which can grow to their full height within a short period of time, usually hours, and generally after a rain storm.

Another one, and it's a nasty one if not controlled, is english ivy. This plant can take over your house in a matter of of months if not cared for. It can also kill other plants, even trees, by clinging to their trunks and practically strangling the tree to death.

Bamboo, it can grow up to two(2) feet per day in tropical conditions but is a bugger to keep under control if not taken care of.Parthenocissus tricuspidata or Boston ivy is a deciduous but can reach 60 feet or 18 metres about 2 to 3 metres a year. this creeper is famous for covering large walls hence the ivy league colleges in America. Lovely autumnal hues as well

indoors would be a spider plant, they are really easy to look after and extremely fast growing and outside I'd say a Honey suckle (not sure on the spelling for this!)although that's a climber as opposed to a pot plant but it's very pretty and fragrant.

If you're after a climber, I would recommend Passion Flower - they're evergreen, has very attractive foliage, grows extremely fast, has wonderful, exotic flowers and decorative organge fruits in the autumn.

kudzu that has taken over the south eastern united states can grow 12" a day. is that fast enough?
