.400" to .440" valve lift and about 275* duration.
You will need to verify whether the heads have been milled first, and this assumes flat pistons, and stock rocker arm ratio.
You can use the clay test for piston-valve clearance if you are removing at least one cylinder head.
If not, definitely stay below .500" lift.

Chevy never made a 267 CID motor. But they did make a 265 CID.That was in 1955.You can put 283 heads on it,but there the same as 265 heads.327 heads would be good if you can fine some.A 400 small block heads will fit.Don't try to put 400 big block heads on it.Those heads are bigger than you 265 motor block.

the performer rpm is hard to beat . up to 3000 it sounds like a ground pounder- at idle a real fender shaker- but put a dual plane and 600 on it and it pulls hard from 2500 to 5700- use a 650 and a single plane and it works out between 3500 and 6400 rpm.
