During pre-Spanish and Spanish periods of which country? It would sure help to know a small detail like that... Well, Philippines would be one guess of a country where those periods existed, so let's try it.

There doesn't seem to be a nice and comprehensive page you could just copy and paste, but that's not what you were looking for, right? After all, you DO want to do your homework yourself... That's the only way to learn anything. But for some resources you probably already found yourself:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literature_of_the_Philippines - a short summary of the Literature of the Philippines.

http://www.ifla.org/IV/ifla65/papers/039-138e.htm - a real article about "Trends in Philippine Library History". Probably provides very little anything useful, but looks always a lot better than a random webpage when you list your sources.

http://www.filipino-americans.com/cgi-bin/redirect.cgi?url=yes_today2.html - there you have also a small description about literature during spanish and pre-spanish era, but more useful could be following the links of the links-page of that site.

If you know Spanish, then http://members.aol.com/EFaro26164/revpri01.html could be a place for you. It's a quarterly magazine on HispanicFilipino language and literature, and that particular article is a brief history of the literature. From http://www.los-indios-bravos.com/revistafilipina/rf_archivos.html you can browse other issues of the same magazine; you could find a nice article about the stuff you are looking for. You would have to translate it of course, but hey, you have to do some work sometimes...

I hope these help. If the country was a wrong guess, then those are no use at all and I wasted 5 minutes of my life because of your vague description... but hey, that's life.
