Well, that's a loose interpretation, but yeah, something like that. Except Texas was its own republic for awhile. It was neither a part of Mexico or the US. Eventually, of course, it was annexed into the USofA.

Two much different questions -

What is now Texas was open to immigration by Mexican authorities after they seceded from Spain in 1809. Most of the immigrants came from the United States, but certainly not all. they were required to convert to Catholicism and this, as well as disagreements over the ownership of slaves [Texicans wanted them, Mexicans were satisfied with peonage], and the inability of Mexico to defend the immigrants from Indian raids led to the Texas Revolution in 1836.

In 1845, the United States agreed to allow the Republic of Texas to join the Union. In 1846, the united States did invade Mexico and conquered it. As part of the peace settlement, Mexico kept most of its present boundaries and the USA took the rest - that includes most of the present day states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of Utah and Colorado.

Keep in mind that the Mexicans seceded from Spain. Spain forcibly had taken possession of the lands from the native inhabitants. Some of those inhabitants, such as the Apache and Dine' [Navajo] had taken it from prior indigenous peoples.

yes much of the south west was mexican territory. i am not sure what you mean by "invaded with migrants". most people that inhabit the united state are decended from migrants so more than likely they were migrants. the mexican/american war was after the removal of natives on american land and i really doubt the natives would have fought the mexicans willingly.
