How do I market my paintings as illustrations?

I have oil on canvases that could be put into a digital format and used by periodicals or companies as illustrations. Has anyone ever done this?

I would think this would be difficult, but you could try to scan them in with large architectual scanners. Bring it into illustrator and fix any details that you need to.
