Is hipop equal to homophobia?

Because they live in USA, which is very aggressive, homophobic culture. If they would be born in Africa they would not act like that.

I don't think hipop=homophobia, but you would think that people who have a lot to lose from prejudice would avoid the same sort of attitudes. I suppose homophobia in the African-American community can be chalked up to poor education, and macho overcompensating for being brought up without fathers.

Eminem supposedly doesn't like homosexuals and he's white. And no hiphop doesn't equal homophobia. I'm black and I LOVE hip hop, but at the same time, I'm very open-minded and accept homosexuals even though I'm not one. It's your views. It's like asking does being Conservative/Republican = homophobia? No it doesn't but because many associated with that group tend to not like it, it's been categorized. Same with hip hop. But it's not always true. They've even got openly gay black rappers out there like Caushun. It's not cool to generalize because there are always exceptions to the rule.

It seems to be that a lot of these same rappers are on the down low themselves but would never admit it because then they would lose support and $$$$

First of all there are homophbic people in all races and who are part of all cultures. I highly doubt being part of hip hop culture makes anyone homophobic. And by the way blacks are not the only people who are part of hip hop culture.
