Of course it is, these are just hydrocarbon chains. However fuels such as ethanol are much cheaper to make from non petroleum sources.

You cannot manufacture Petroleum but you can only extract. In India, there were many rumors about ' Herbal Petroleum' which were disproven on scientific basis (as they were only Ethanol).

Yes but this is what we do now. The basic ingredient to manufacture petroleum is still oil.

Good question.

If prepared using the same organic material and if proceeded within the same temperature and pressure limits as formed in nature, it can be manufactured.
Though, it'll take a lot of time to complete the reactions, but a stinking catalyst should do the job before you need a set of dentures.

During World War II, the Germans made artificial gasoline, but never nearly enough. By the end of the war, the Japanese were reduced to making artificial aviation gasoline out of pine tree roots. It was worthless, but as they say, a drowning man will grasp at straws.

answer:
we can manufacture petroleum by using ethanol(C2H5OH)
but it will make the ic engines to get more carbon deposits and it will cause lot of smoke and engine will also get damaged
