I have been trying to get counselling, but my insurance is not working right now. I think I may have been in an abusive realtionship and am just feeling like hell after a break up. I am in a safe living situation, but just need some help figuring out the aftermath. I am trying to get some counselling, but when I try with the premise of abuse people are affraid of me. I am trying the regular direction because I need it and they say it will take 2 months to get in. I really need something. Do you have any advice?

Are there any national agencies for abuse in relationships or traumatic events?

I just thought there might be a website you can look up by state of zip code. I am in the USA. Perhaps there is a national agency or a clearing house?

Often doctoral programs in clinical psychology will have clinics that are open to the public. The therapists are usually upper-level doctoral students who are supervised by licensed psychologists. They also are relatively cheap & many work on a sliding scale fee schedule based on your income. That may be helpful if money is a concern for you.

So you need to wait 2 mths. okay well good that your going for help. In the mean time try on the internet there are web site chat sites and message boards that can help you out. Also check your local city for hot line abuse, or a number to call where someone will help or listen to you. Also try women shelters for the boards they will also carry phamplets. and do check with your doctor he or she will also have information and numbers for you to call. Your not alone.
