The two lines on the dipstick are minimum and maximum levels, if your oil is between them you're fine. If it's too much over the maximum, you could blow seals if it is a high compression engine, but that is unusual under normal conditions for passenger cars. It isn't such a critical level that it will damage your VW. Just burn it off by driving normally and then try to keep the level between the two lines. In an air-cooled VW (do you have a radiator? if not it's air cooled) you are better off having a little too much oil than not enough.

It desires a minimum of SEMI man made OIL and MOBI LONE 0W-30 or 0W-20 is an progression over the single the production facility has already given you! It wil keep your seals clean and the GASKETS and earrings sparkling! PENNZOIL extremely is yet another tremendous OIL yet stay far flung from VALVOLINE because it really is made by skill of the WAX help technique and leaves SLUDGE and polish everywhere interior a difficult operating small engine! i recognize I easily have de-sludged about 60 or better of them. i'd only use authentic man made OIL In that new automobile engine anyhow! Pennzoil extremely is even better suited and AMSOIL is nice for 25 ok miles BEWTEEN alterations appropriately! BYE!

Were you adding oil or doing an oil change, that is important.
A little over the line will not hurt anything, After the Engine absorbs part of the oil into it' s "Innards", it will probably not be over the line.

HI...........If your car was say...........at least mid-size,it would be ok, at least you'd make it some place to get it drained. Being a vw, just because the gradated capacity marks are very close, they represent more oil than you may think. The thing is,a person might think it's ok and it pops.........oh I hate that feeling. Up to you and your circle,GOOD LUCK!!................LATER
