He was more than paying you a compliment! More specifically what he was telling you was that he settled for the new wife. Hate to sound so blunt, but that's the way it is. A guy is only going to accept no so many times before he moves on to someone who is going to say yes. Just because he moved on to someone who would say yes doesn't mean he doesn't want you, it just mean she said yes. Has to kinda make you wonder how it would have all played out and would he be married had you gave him a shot.

I would be careful about this so called "compliment". It might be nothing but it can be a sign that this friend Ryan has a crush on you or who knows?
I suggest to keep a distance and never find yourself in a situation that can create a romantic atmosphere.
Hope this can help. Good Luck!!!!

depends on the tone he used. But since it wasnt obviously a rude remark, I'd say it was a compliment. He's just telling you not to settle for second best. Find the perfect guy for you.

It's all in the tone and context. If you were invited to his wedding, he probably likes you, but it's also possible it was a bit of both.
It may be commentary on your being picky, but not in a harsh or unkind way. Personally, I admire selectivity- it shows character (so long as it isn't superficial).

that's not good.
it sounds like he put you up on a pedistal and never felt good enough to handle you - which means, he probably still loves you.
