I am equally bad at it. Best thing to do is to throw away the mobile phone and go back to the old ring dials. Trust me, you'll remember all the numbers in no time if you have to wait for every single digit to dial and roll back.

I generally have between 25 and 30 phone numbers memorized, but I don't know if you consider that good or bad.
I do know that I used to have a lot more memorized, but I started getting lazy, so I stopped doing the things that were making it so I didn't have to memorize them. The main offenders were using speed dial on my home phone, and having all those numbers listed on my cell phone. I just had to push buttons, not memorize anything.
Now I make myself dial from memory, or I look it up--I don't use any buttons. If I find that I am calling someone regularly, I usually remember their number after two or three calls. I also write everything down, and put it on a list by the fridge for easy access. Just seeing it and repeating it to myself as I dial helps me embed it in my memory.
It used to be a lot easier for me before everyone had a cell phone number. Where I live, there are about 6 different really common 3-digit beginnings to cell phone numbers, so I can often remember a valid number, just not the one I want right at the moment. It was easier when everyone had a very different phone number, and maybe only two people shared the first 3 digits of their number.
Why don't you start writing numbers down on a piece of paper, rather than just entering them on your cell phone. Look it up on the paper each time you call the person, rather than relying on technology to do the remembering for you. That's the only thing I can think of :)

My memory is terrible, and even numbers I use every day I forget. Phone books on the phones make life so much easier.
As for trying to remember them, I would say just keep repeating it to yourself. Good luck.

I'm horrible! Particularly since they invented the automatic number dialing systems. Now I don't have to have a memory of my own because the numbers are all entered into the memory of the telephone! How to get better? I wish I knew.

If I don't have my cell phone, I'm completely useless when it comes to calling someone. I could'nt remember a phone number to save my life! Except my Mom's, my house number, and my cell number. I hope I never lose it, that would suck. I suggest you refrain from programming numbers into your cell and dial the number each time.
If you dial the full number instead of finding their name and pressing 'send', you will naturally memorize them in a while.

I've always been good at remembering numbers. At one job I had, the other employees referred to me as 'the phone book' because I had so many numbers committed to memory. LOL!
Too bad I can't find my glasses.

I have to admit, i'm spectacular at remembering numbers.
I can't remember names.
But i can remember numbers.
I don't know why... But i guess it's because i'll repeat the number to myself a couple of times so that it's programmed in my head.
Or.... i'll dial it just so i get a feel for the phone :)
I'm a bona fide geek.
