unable to play dvd films on dvd-rom?

i tried playing commercial film dvd through my dvd-rom.it is not reading the dvd.Data /software/cvds are read

u need an second party software like "power dvd" u cannot ply that with an media player 9. u must have media player 10 series.u upgrade it to series 10.so that it will work

you need to clean your dvd's lens, or else the disc won't be able to be read. Believe it or not, I have a dvd-rom drive that would read cd's, but would not read dvd's, because the lens needed to be cleaned. I guess maybe there are separate lenses for dvd and cd?
