So, first you take a day off work, and I mean a whole day, because they are not in a hurry at traffic court and you may sit there for hours. Then you drive downtown and if you live in a big city, try to find a place to park. If the cop does not show up because he is working an emergency then they will re-schedule your case which means another day off work. If the cop does show up, then you will lose. The judge always takes the word of the officer over the offender, unless he has a tape and then you are really screwed because if he has a tape you are guilty, cause if the tape showed you did stop, you wouldn't be there. Just pay the fine, how ever much it is, it is not worth the aggrevation of traffic court. And do not do as one person said and ignore it, cause they will issue a warrant for you and if you are ever stopped for anything, you will go to jail. You can ignore parking violations, but moving violations will get you a warrant.
10 years as a secretary in traffic court.

My ex got a few tickets, and he went to traffic court and all of them got knocked down to no points violations. They were speeding violations mostly. Cops are busy, they sometimes don't show up, and nothing worse will happen to you if you show up to contest the ticket than would have happened if you just paid the fine. From now on, just go ahead and count "one mississippi, two mississippi" before you go to avoid having this happen again. By the way, I was pretty certain there was no amount of time you had to be stopped as long as your car came to a complete stop (you can feel it when the car stops moving forward if you're paying attention). I'm from New York, so maybe it's different, but you should look up traffic laws in your area just to make sure there's nothing else you need to know but weren't actually taught.
If it's a violation you can get points on your license for, ALWAYS go to traffic court. Always.

Get a lawyer. A lot of these things(not all) are just money makers for municipalities. A lawyer, in most cases will charge less than the value of the ticket and your almost guaranteed that they will drop the case, and they go to court for you, which is always cool with me. I'm not an expert on this but I have had plenty of tickets and it's kept points off of my license thus far, so take heed. But its all really a matter of how much the ticket is and if you can afford those points on your license.
Or you could just blame it on al-Qaida. You didn't stop because you were trying to prevent a terrorist attack on the Domino's pizza around the corner. Just be prepared for long hours of interrogation by the F.B.I. and the Department of Homeland Security, but if you name names and are the best dang patriot you can be, it just might work.

I JUST went to court for not stopping at a stop sign, and I didn't even have to appear before the judge, the baliff (or whoever he was) called me up to the desk, asked me if I stopped, I said YES I did, and he dismissed it. Chances are that's what they will do for you. When you get down there, there will be a long line of other people there for traffic tickets, and almost all of them will be dismissed, I've never NOT had one dismissed. Im in Memphis, TN, but im sure it's pretty much the same everywhere, they dont have time to try all those petty traffic ticket cases.

Just pay the ticket!
We live in a world where we started to legislate for safety, but it turned out to be a money spinner. You will never win against that.
I think if you stop to look then you are doing the right thing.
I once got booked for accidentally forgetting to turn my lights on at dusk after I had just had a flat battery. It cost me $140 for this terrible act. Luck I wasn't out stealing a car or something. Now I have learned my great lesson. I will no longer be a threat to the safety of society, and people will be able to breathe easier.

Ouch, nicely you recognize you shouldnt be dashing yet what's accomplished is accomplished. generally the decide seems at your previous records/tickets and makes a determination according to them. whilst somebody's record is obvious the decide will placed you on supervision and make you pay the advantageous. this means that in case you get yet another fee ticket interior 6 months you will come decrease back to courtroom and you will get harder fines and so on. on your case on account which you do have previous tickets he could be somewhat greater reliable. you additionally can evaluate getting a lawyer again with you and you'd be able to get off hassle-free. the only turn away is they're high priced :( p.s you additionally can plead no longer to blame and if the cop isn't there to declare in any different case or take care of himself...your case would be thrown out.

the chance of winning is nil. This is how municipalites make money. Go to court, pay the fine, if only to get the experience so next time you'll spot the cop and refrain from those "hollywood" stops.

Cops always show up. I say pay it and be done with it. tickets happen its not the big of deal.
Cops don't just pull you over for no reason unless they believe it to be thru..if they do..they will show up and your opinion wont matter. Don't forget..all cop cars have cameras....Are you 110% sure you stopped?

most officers do show up but here is one for you that is said to have been tried and works if you pay the ticket pay it $5.00 over the amount now they have to send you back a check for $5.00 however, when they do throw it away or keep it point is do no cash it and this leaves your case open and unreported to your insurance company i personally have not tried this but trust the source that told me. think about it.....
