Everyone who said to take it to the post office has given you good advice, but let me add one more detail - it is REQUIRED that you hand in any package that weighs more than one pound at a post office. If your package weighs less than a pound and you have a good scale, you can use the calculator at http://www.usps.com - but if you get the rate there for over a pound and drop it in a mail box, it will come back to you (or be sent to the dead letter office if you don't include a return address). They really do this!
Any combination of stamps can be used that add up the the right amount - the U.S. has not had special stamps for parcels since 1913. If you take it to the post office, they will put a meter strip on it for you, which is just as good unless your friend is a stamp collector.

Find your friend the "candyman" (wink) and ask him to weigh your package. Just so you know, the post office doesn't need to know the weight to 1/10th of a gram, and they don't sell postage by the gram, anyway - 28.35grams/ounce. Once you've figured out how many ounces of candy you have, including the candybox, go to this site:
http://www.usps.com/tools/calculatepostage/welcome.htm?from=home&page=0061calculatepostage
Where you can figure out what your price is. Maybe do that part at the library...
Then buy your stamps, put them on (use a sponge-applicator to moisten the stamps - DNA, dood,) and ask your friend to mail it for you.
It'll get there.

Weigh the package. You always have to put at least one stamp on it, but if it's more than, say (and don't quote me on this!) one ounce, then, usually, you have to put more (one for each additional ounce-I think). The best thing, though, would be to just go to the post office and have them weigh it and pay for exact postage. It'll save you money in the end. Or you could do like the Weasely's in Harry Potter, and completely cover it in stamps! :)

Check the us post office online for weight guidelines. U can use your scale at home..if it's under 1-2 lbs...there should be an amount stated. ;)

You are going to have to go to the post office. Also, insure it for $1.30 for a $50 package.

It depends on how much it weighs. You really need to take it to the post office to determine the correct postage.

you need to bring it to the post offices or call ups, fedex or other shipping company to schedule a pick up, but it will cost more.
