A really good movie taking place during Halloween would have to be "Halloween H2O" starring Jamie Lee Curits and was Josh Harnetts first movie. Its a horror movie but really isnt that scary but its good, because the lead character finally takes a stand and is sick of being walked all over and tries to overcome her fears for once. Its really good and suspensefull and is one that I would suggest for a holiday/Halloween film

I know that you really didnt want a scary movie But I would recommend all of the Halloween movies except for HalloweenIII Season of the Witch because it had nothing to do with Micheal Meyers
Hocus Pocus and The Worst Witch are a couple of my favorite movies that show near Halloween( they both are Disney movies)

my Halloween ritual movie is Idle Hands but there are so many you could go for like the Halloween series, Friday the 13th series, Amityville Horror, or hell you could go with the kiddy movies to like Hocus Pokus (i don't know how to spell it), Halloweentown, The Great Pumkin Charlie Brown, there are so many just hit the local movie rental joint and walk around the classics and new releases and your bound to find plenty and if you find more then you can watch at once write it down and pick it up next year and you'll be golden then to.

For all time horror-type movies with an ending that you don't see coming, I have to go with 'The Sixth Sense'.
I'd either go with that one, or with that old Stephen King classic, 'The Shining'.
Just my humble opinion.
