PS: If you live around Middletown or Goshen, New York then you should try Casa Mia. They are the best!
They are on the Goshen Turnpike

buca di pepo...real authentic italian and the atmosphere and service are the best...i always go with big groups because they have big family size portions. they have the best garlic bread and deserts too.

In the mall in downtown Norfolk VA, is a restaurant named Castaldi's and it is the closest to real Italian that I have ever tried in the states, just excellent. (I was in the Navy a long time, and spent a lot of time in Italy)
The food and atmosphere are wonderful and music students work there and sing with a pianist on certain nights of the week. Simply phenomenal, especially if you love real Italian food like me.

I am from Illinois and the only good Italian restaurant around where I live is Avanti's Ristorante
I have not been to Chicago and I have heard there are some great restaurants in Chicago

Niccolino's, Franky and Johnny and Luigi Too, Florentine's.
