Do you have to go right away? If it's been 48 hours will they still be able to collect semen?

Well it was my ex-bf's brother and I was so hysterical afterwards that I sat in my shower crying until the water ran cold. The next day I was so sickened I just wanted it all to go away so I completely cleaned my bathroom (where it happened) and washed my clothes. I wasn't thinking. I guess I wasn't thinking I would have to prove it, I thought people would believe me but of course he denies it and even tried to say I came onto him which nobody believes but they can't believe that he actually did force himself on me or they don't want to believe it so I feel like I have to prove myself. I really just want it all to go away. I know my ex believes me to a point but he thinks I may have been so out of it that I imagined just how far it went. My back is not bruised but it is very sore in spots from the back of the toilet, it takes me a while to bruise tho. I am hoping bruises show up just so i can have SOME sort of evidence. I shouldn't have drunk so much.

The only reason anyone even knows is because he left his keys on my bathroom floor. He tried getting back in the house but i locked it and when he was knocking I didn't know what he wanted and i just wanted him to go away so I didn't open the door. well, he called a friend that was out with us to tell him to call me and tell me his keys were in the bathroom and I was in hysterics and couldn't hide it. I got off the phone qiuck hoping he wouldn't notice anything. Then I got the keys and threw them out the door and went upstairs to my bedroom and went in the shower. while I was in the shower crying, my friend called me back and at first I wouldnt answer but i finally did and just bawled and bawled and tried to tell him what happened but i dont know if i was even making sense. he was going to come back and see if i was ok but i told him not to. i just wanted it to go away. the next day my ex shows up at my house and i had to tell him what happened.

The sooner the better! You run the risk of losing any evidence after showering, bathing, etc... My daughter was raped and we carried her immediately to the ER - the rape kit was extremely hard for her (3 years old), but they collected all the evidence they needed. They told us how important it was to get her to the ER as soon as we did.
Good luck honey!

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

You need to go soon. The kit is normally only collected for 72 hours, but there are some circumstances in which a kit would be collected after that time. There are also special lights that can show bruising under the skin that isn't apparent with visual exam.
Did you wash all your clothes? If there's anything you were wearing that you didn't wash yet, take it with you.

I'm not an expert, but... I've heard that semen stays alive for 5 days inside a woman.
But... The longer you wait, the worse chance you'll have of proving a rape. Take action NOW. If you keep delaying making this decision then you will kick yourself later.

You are supposed to go right away, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go now. If you were raped, please get off the computer now and go to the Emergency Room.
Do not be ashamed or afraid, take the clothes you were wearing.
If you've showered they may not find semen, but they can still find vaginal trauma and other evidence of rape.
Please go. Don't wait any longer.
