while human need to sleep in lying position to get full rest of all body parts...I sledom see horses, elephants. and cows sleep lying..except dogs and cats

look at the fish. they sleep with eyes wide awake. hehehe i think that's more difficult.

the reasone why most larger four legged critters like horses ect... sleep stanging up is because they weigh so much that if for long periods of time on their sides or on the ground they would either break their ribs or constric their lungs and suffocate.they do however lay down for short periods to rest their legs or if they are sick or injured.

It's just nature. There are so many things that we cannot understand though. Try putting ourself in their position would make us understand better

this is the way they were created!god knows best ,he made them this way!and it is healthy for them!hippos need water for rest and to keep their body weight from the pressure on their legs thats why they are in water alot ,most of their life

THEY SORT OF SLEEP IN A VERY LIGHT SLEEP MODE...AND WILL LAY DOWN WHEN THEY NEED A DEEPER SLEEP..BIRDS DONTLIE DOWN EITHER..THERES A CHEMICAL IN THERE BRAIN THAT CLENCHES A SORT OF TENDEN IN THERE FEET IT LOCKS TO THE PERCH WHEN THERE SLEEPING..THATS WHY THEY DONT FALL OF WHEN THERE ASLEEP
