If, you're concerned go have a check-up with your doc.
Otherwise, what else are you doing with your body?
Are you doing any stretching (yoga)?
Do you do any cardio work?
Do you drink enough water & eat good nutritious foods.
I'm 10 years older, I do all the above & have 0 symptoms.
I look 10 years younger & my energy remains that of a 30 year old.
A lot depends on your genetic make up. On the other hand, just because you might be predisposed to certain illnesses that run in your family, doesn't necessarily mean you will get them. How you take care of yourself has a lot to do with the aging process.
44 is not old, 44 is the new 34.

If achiness on just one side, then probably just osteoarthritis, however if joints ache and stiff bilaterally (both hands, both knees etc.) could be RA (rheumatoid arthritis). Also depends on how long the stiffness lasts (less than half an hour, probably simply osteoarthritis) if an hour or more likely RA. You need to see a doctor. A simple blood test and physical exam will determine what is going on but you need to be seen by a healthcare professional sooner rather than later. Medications and treatment now can help delay deformities and disease progression if it is truly RA.

Are you eating too much meat - especially red meat ? 44 is too young to have joint aches and stiff. Switch red meat to white meat, fish and sea foods. Drink green tea. Take vit. C and make sure it is present all day by taking divided doses every few hours.

It sounds alot like arthritis to me, right age range too. If over the counter remdies like tylenon arthritis dont work you may want to see your doctor so he can put you medication to control it such as mobic.

Most doctors recommend Glucosamine Sulfate. Anyone who has used it, usually recommends it also. It's not expensive... worth a try? I've also heard shark cartilage is beneficial, but, I don't know of anyone who has tried it.

Have you been checked for arthritis?

I use Glucosamine/Chondroitin combo but it take a while for you to see the results. But when I don't take it, I feel the pains of not taking it, so I know it works (for me).
