Doing research on Reagan's "Drug War" and I'm trying to show the difference between the time Reagan was Governor of Cali and where his stance on drugs began. Protests, picketing, and demonstrations I know were heavy at the time he was Governor, while the time he was President there were rarely any run-ins with protesters, etc... but what are some events I can use from the late 60's and early 70's where anti-drug campaigns were protested against?

There was not a lot of anti-dope protesting going on. Maybe a little.. But dopers knew the cops were watching that kind of stuff.. and (we) chose to stay out of the limelight. Anti-war (Viet Nam) was the thing to protest. But ya had to be stoned to do it.

The protesting during the 60's and 70's were mostly about racial equality, environment,no-nukes,and ending the Vietnam War. Drugs were just present at the time. The people were not as much anti drug as they were anti hippie rebellion. It really wasn't established that drugs were really bad for you until Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" campaign and President Reagan declared a war on drugs.Never heard anti drug campaign being protested against. The National Organisation For the Reform of Marijuana Laws had a few about legalizing pot but that sums it up.

back in those times we couldnt ,wouldnyt think of protesting ,for mine it was vietnam and the race debats that let us see we had to stand up,
but the first protests were the hemp farmers when anslinger becan his propaganda campain with the hurst newspapers ,on behalf of the producers of nylon ,dupont ,via his authority of the fbi
but that was way back in the thirties ,a new tax that was levied on hemp modelled on the machine gun tax shut that down ,and things like media vilification and propaganda still screened late at night ,movies i even today dare not name ,marijuana ia a brand name ,even the hemp farmers and botanists reviled mary jane till they realised they were talking about hemp ,but it was a racial thing even back then musitions quoted out of context favoured a joint that allowed the replacement of boose between breaks ,drunks had trouble playing music ,hemp allowed a break sans the boose ,but blacks used it thus protest was headed off
by the 70 s it was all by precedence in higher courts deemed hemp .a plant a drug ie a salt ,but by then hippies and vietnam had outlawed research ,even to day ,one supplier controlles all research ,..protest dont work ,drug protests just got you busted.

"The Eve Of Destruction" is in all likelihood the superb war protest music for that era. as a count of fact, it rather is nonetheless correct right this moment in many its lyrics. it rather is the two that, or the "sense Like i'm Fixin' To Die Rag."
