what software is available to manage 5.1 surround sound?

I have a 5.1 stereo sys on my comp with a 5.1 audio card. I have all of the plugs in the proper spots, but when I use the realtek sound manager I only get sounds out of 3 speakers.

Go to the manufacturer's site of your sound-card and look for the sound drivers for the 5.1 surround sound.
Sounds to me like you have the Standard PC speaker drivers installed instead of what's needed for your setup...

Wrong wiring or software configuration. You do not anything extra.
