Does she have eyebrows and lashes? If she doesn't, I figure alopecia. If she does, I'll go with fashion statement.

If she is attractive-looking and appears happy and self-assured, I figure it is her choice to not be bothered with a bad hair day, because she knows she looks good and feels good. The reason behind it is hers alone. I don't think about it.

If she is serious and unhappy, I assume she must be ill, and I feel compassion for her, and a bit of pride. To be so sick and not succumb to the uncomfortableness others feel around you by wearing a wig to cover up the ordeal you are enduring takes bravery.

By the way, cancer and alopecia aren't the only illnesses that cause hair loss.
