'She's Leaving Home', from Sergeant Pepper (June 1967). A fantastic song, which not only tells a story, but does so with melody and imagination. This song is a testament to Paul MacCartney's astonishing two-octave vocal range. Really good fun to play this melody on the guitar, too.

Another favourite would have to be 'The Inner Light', written by George Harrison and used as the B-side to the March 1968 single 'Lady Madonna'. Again, a lovely spiritual song with a beautiful melody. At the other end of the scale, I also like John Lennon's 'Hey Bulldog', also recorded around March 1968 but not released until January 1969. A great, tough-sounding Beatles rock & roll number with a fantastic guitar solo.

And, of course, there's Paperback Writer, Day Tripper, She Said She Said, and Here, There And Everywhere.

How do you pick a favourite from all that lot?

That's a hard one when the Beatles were so absolutely good! Here's a few:

The Night Before
Words of Love
It's only Love
Dear Prudence
Birthday
Back in the U.S.S.R.
Leave My Kitten Alone
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Carry that Weight

Eleanor Rigby - the line about putting on a face that she keeps in a jar by the door has to be one of the best song lyrics ever written.
