I'm not sure if you have a boy or a girl, but my 2 girls never slept during the day-ever. they would go to sleep at 10-11 at night and wake up 9-10 in the morning, they were so active that they talked and walked earlier than norm. so take advantage of the fact that your baby is an aware child. my nephew slept most of the day and night he is two now and he can barely talk, he walked at 15months (mainly because he was always sleeping) you tell him something and is like in his own word. my sis has 2 boys and he says they were the same.. late kids... so dont worry, play ant talk to your child and youll see, soon you wont have to cater to your child all the time...

Does the baby have a gas problem? If so, that may be one reason. Get some peppermint oil from your local grocery, a medicine dropper, and a bottle of formula or breast milk, put 1 drop only of the oil in the liquid two or three meals a day for about two to three days, that should get rid of the gas, if that's the problem. Here are some other suggestions. Bathing in scented oil that makes a baby drowsy, lotions, keeping him warm, warm formula or breast milk, keeping him active during key times of your day, putting him to bed before your bed time and saying to him before you turn out the lights that it's bed time & good night & I love you, then turn out the lights, and don't go back right away if he fusses. Hope this helps!

Every baby is different. For every 100 kids that sleep all day, there will be another 50 who don't. As long as he eats well, gains weight, is happy and sleeps ok at night, he's just fine! Just wait till he starts to move around, then you'll have your hands full!!! Every time you turn around, someones is going to say something like "Oh, MY baby never did THAT!" and will make you worry that your baby is screwed up some how. Don't listen or you'll be out of your mind before his 3rd birthday!

I also had people telling me that. My son is three months old. Give it some time, my guy is JUST now sleeping at night, and its not even in its entirety. Think of it this way, your child is inquisitive, and will be smarter because hes leearning more all the time hes awake. Play with him, enjoy him, and sleep when he sleeps, even if it just an hour. Good Luck to you!

Does he cry while he's awake? If not, what's the problem? Enjoy him!
He will have a growth spurt any minute and do nothing but eat and sleep so much you will go check to make sure he's breathing!!
One day at a time my dear.
This will be the adventure of a lifetime that will last a lifetime!! Pace yourself!

My little one was the same. She sleeps more now at 5mths than she did at your sons age. Some babies are just more awake than others. Hopefully it'll change as he gets older as it did for me. There isn't anything wrong with him so dont worry. He's just a more wakeful baby for now. That could change in days, weeks or months. You just never know.

i felt that way about my baby too. he may be sleeping more than you think. try keeping a detailed diary of when he eats, poops, sleeps etc. also, my son didn't sleep through the night at all until he was 2 and a half. if you do notice your baby sleeping, you sleep too. don't try to do things while he is sleeping, thinking it's a good time to get things done. you need to rest.

really, we need more details. is he crying? eating normally? responding to hugs, smiles, 'mommy love", attention? does his doctor think there is a problem? the thing of it is, is that babies, like anyone else, tend to get stereotyped, and the reality of it is that no two babies are exactly the same. ask any mom who has 2 or more children, and she'll tell you how even 2+ babies of the same family are very, very different. when you get down to the nitty-gritty, my advice is this: talk to your doctor. if he/she finds your baby to be ok, then don't worry. your baby will take what sleep he needs as long as there are no health/environmental problems interupting it for him.

well try to keep him up during the day and then at night when you are ready to lay him down give him a good warm bottle, fill him up, give him a good warm bath and put him down. that is unusual for a baby that old not to sleep well Good Luck
