properly... A a million gallon tank is nowhere outfitted to a goldfish! Goldfish choose 10 gallons of water on the minimum. you want to do your analyze earlier you get your fish. you've carried out each little thing incorrect! enable me clarify. An air pump oxygenates the water, it really is a good component. An undergravel filter out is undesirable, get an suited filter out from the keep. Your tank is only too small. ok, you've not even cycled the tank. you could go away it operating for some weeks, then upload the goldfish. you could analyze that. also, you're starting to be me pissed, very, because you do not purchase A GOLDFISH FOR A 2 12 months previous!!!! Goldfish are extreme maintanence, require extremely some care. I guess your 2 12 months previous daughter would not even recognize a thanks to talk. Please, for the perfect, take the fish again to the keep and do not purchase your daughter a fish till the subsequent 10 years. in case you imagine you could take care of it, DO your analyze! -AirAla-

Absolutely - depending on what kind of goldfish you have, they can grow anywhere from six inches to a foot or longer. By keeping him in that bowl, you are not giving him enough room to move, thus stunting his growth, thus shortening his life (they're supposed to live to be 20 years old, though there are records of one living to be 43). Especially if you don't do 50% water changes every other day - you're killing him with toxic ammonia and nitrate levels in his water.

There is a reason why goldfish are not recommended for anything less than a 20-gallon tank with heavy-duty filtration.

yes, a goldfish can live to 30 years if kept in the right conditions.

in a bowl there is not enough space for the fish to grow so it's spine is deformed.

goldfish bowls are illegal in some countries because of this

No, its not mean but goldfish should not be kept in a bowl and certainly not without filteration.

I have a friend who has kept goldfish in a bowl - but its a big bowl and it has a filter and regular maintenance is down on the bowl. Its a happy fish.

yes and no
1. goldfish have very long memories and r smarter than most ppl
think
2. goldfish arent schooling fish so it's not "nessesary" but i dont like to put them by themselves; i like to add other fish so the fish arent *bored*.
3. nothing should be kept in a bowl!! water surface is too small. do it a favor n buy it a small tank with a box filter(theyre not expensive)

Yes, for a lot of the reasons mentioned above. In my experience, goldfish are very social and appreciate fishy company.

The city of Rome banned bowls. It was considered inhumane.

All that stuff about goldfish having a 3-second memory is bullshit. Goldfish have no concept of time. It is just a stupid fish; in fact, it would probably just fight with any fish you put in with it.

well goldfishes memory do last only 3 seconds, but adding a companion or a mate keeps it occupied and it will not be so lonely. make sure if it grows bigger than get a bigger tank though.
