I read elsewhere that it means Conformity European (in French ). This is supposed to mean it conforms to a common list for Europen standards for Electronics.

CE means confomitee Europeon that means confirming to European Norms. It is a safety standard and no goods without CE mark can enter into Europeon union countries.
