I do not know of any norms, you will know when you have met that special person. There are lots of meanings for those three little words, loving a friend, loving your family, there is a tempory love for someone who has done you a big favor.
I think I might have explored the first date I love you a bit, found out if she loved you because you were a good date, or she is someone who says this to friends, or she loved everything about you. It does seem a little premature to say this on a first date.

well there is no norm to saying i love you but saying it on the first date is no normal. You should only say "i love you" if you really love the person and if you know quite abit about that person

there is no norm. it depends on the people. but if you are saying it just because you feel you have to (and not b/c you WANT to), or you are trying to get what you want at that moment, then it definately is not love and you should never lead somebody to think you love them when you actually dont.

You don't say I love you to someone unless you really do. How would you know on your first date? It is such a special thing to say to someone. You don't just blurt it out unless you mean it. My boyfriend felt it and said it a lot sooner than I did. I said it when i felt I really was falling in love with him. When I finally said it he knew I meant it.

Until you feel it in your heart and soul... basically if you wake up every mourning with a smile on ur face because of that person, if you feel you can say anything with out being embarrassed, etc...

When you truly feel it. That takes time. Some people do believe in "Love at First Sight". I don't. Love is a friendship that catches fire!

Tough question. My boyfriend told me he loved me on our third date! It freaked me out, when I told my friends they told me to get rid of him. it can freak you out but I could tell you that my boyfriend and I have been going out now for five years and two months. He wasn't kidding when he said it we are getting engaged this xmas. Sometimes it works out other times it doesn't
