i was reading an answer, and it was addressed to a person who wanted to become a celebrity after she received an email for a disney channel star. the answer said;
just think that shes talked to many other people that arent gunna be celebs. dont get ur hopes up for becoming one,get over it! lol

why can't you become a celebrity? isn't all you need an agent, some decent headshots, and an acting job with the agent? and then you could work up from there, right?

people always say that not everyone is as lucky as others, and that not everyone gets to do that. why don't they though? you just need an agent. and, why aren't there way more celebrities? if all you need is an agent, shouldn't there be more? how come not everyone makes it?

Well, you can't just go out and hire an agent. Getting an agent is tough, tough work. You have to be good at what you do. See, you pay an agent a commission - a percentage of what you make - so when an agent agrees to take you on, they need to be confident that you'll get work, that you'll make THEM some money.

And even if you do get an agent, there's no guaranteeing that they'll get you work, or the right work. They're the ones that book you auditions, but you still have to go and get through a lot of auditions (sometimes fighting with hundreds of people for a role.) Agents don't just call somewhere and get you the JOB - they get you a CHANCE to get the job.
