I am obese (not just some skinny girl trying to be skinnier. lol), and I drink alot of pop, and do not excersize on a regular basis. So taking all that into consideration do you think if I stopped drinking soda pop and start eating healthy, (plus cut my calories per day in half of what they usually are) and walking 3 miles everday, PLUS lifting weights, that I would be able to drop 20 pounds in two weeks?
I need to be able to fit into an old pair of pants, that is why I am asking.
If you dont think my plan will work how much do you think I will lose?
Or should I up my excersize in order to lose more, any suggestions are welcome. Thankyou

let me put this to you slightly scientifically. weight loss is a slow process and there is no way you could lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks unless you stopped eating all together. im telling you it is impossible to lose 20 pounds even if you eat 1200 calories a day and walk three miles. 20 pound weight loss is somethng you shoot for over 3 or 4 months. when your friends tell you that they loss 15 pouds in 2 weeks they dont know it but they are losing mainly water. gettting down to burning your actual fat is the only way to lose weight so it won't come right back. this takes strict diet and at least an hour of exercise a day. hope this info helps

In addition to what you've proposed try the following if by your deadline you've not quite fit in your outfit:

Go jogging/fast walking in 4 layers of sweats, a few times a week (loose water weight plus burns extra extra energy).

Only eat rice cakes 1 day before/day of the event and spit often (you will loose you water weight -- probably will dehydrate you -- but you'll gain this back in the next 2-3 days so not a big deal). Spend hours in a sauna (also will make you loose water weight).

On a health note: I strongly urge you to speak with your regular doctor (even if it is just over the phone) to asses any risks about undertaking the dramatic weight loss in a short amount of time. Dramatic weight loss can potentially put harmfull strain on your body (heart).

If all else fails, go buy a new pair of pants - JC Penny's has an extra 75% of their clearance right now -- a great deal!!

Stop drinking pop period if you are obese. Water is where it is at. Do the nazi diet 800 calories a day. They did studies in world war 2 about how many calories a person would have to consume and still be functional. Not healthy at all but functional. You may be able to drop 20 pounds in 2 weeks i would say it is possible

10-15 pounds is probably what you would lose. I don't think it would be healthy to try for more, even if you can afford to lose it.

You run the risk of not getting enough nourishment for your organs as you body makes the change if you eat less. Plus, working out more could cause you to end up hurting yourself.

Just stick with what you got planned. (Diet Soda has ZERO calories if you just need something with taste, I stopped gaining weight when I swithed to diet. Regular cans of soda have 150 calories, it was a 600 calories drop in my diet--no more weight gain)

Good luck.......

I am a husky guy and I work outside. In the summer, when I am getting lots of exercise and drinking tons of water, I thin down pretty quick, but not as fast as you want to, but try this..

Do most of those things, but watch the caloric intake. make sure you are eating the recommended amount to support your body. To lose that much in that quickly can be unhealthy and can indicate that you are burning lean muscle, not fat, which will cause heart problems. You should be able to lose it fairly quickly though, if you stick to it.
One hint, both John Wayne and Elvis Presley had many pounds of undigested food in there colons at their deaths. Try a colonic in addition to these techniques, not only will you lose wieght but also de-bulk. stay away from processed food, it makes people tend to be puffy and drink tons of water, I mean tons

Its not so much about cutting down consumption as it is spacing it out properly.
Eat breakfast, eat a lunch , and eat a dinner. Eat until you are full, dont overstuff just to finish the plate. Eat healthier choices
Walking 3 miles is great. Lifting wieghts is not as neccassary for simply losing weight, but it can help.
Dont kill yourself excersing, dont starve yourself. If you starve, the next time you eat your body stores it as fat to prepare for the next starve period, if you overexcerise your risk injury.
Eating a good breakfast is essential. Breakfast resparks your metabolism early in the day.
Remember, its not about starving, its not about exhaustion. Its about moderation.
Far as the soda goes? switch to diet if you absolutely must but try water or juice or something healthier. Be careful with juice tho, as often times supermarket juice is extremly high in sugars.

I don't advise this for a long term solution, but no matter what you may think of the Atkins' diet, it does work initially. Eating absolutely NO carbs of any kind will throw your body into a state of ketosis(after about 3 days). Ketosis is actually the body burning stored fat for energy. If the body has no carbs to feed off, it has no choice but to start eating the stored fat in your body. I have lost as much as 16lbs. in 9 days by stopping ALL carbohydrates.

Well, I finally found someone like me. I am a guy, though. I do think you would lose those 20 pounds if you do all the things you listed every day. I just wish I were one of those people who ate everything and didn't gain a single pound. But I guess that's why God made us all different.

All of the above things you mentioned are plusses, however lifting weights will not help you to lose weight , that will create muscle!
It would not be healthy to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks.

Please don't start to exercise so heavily. You will put too much strain on your heart.
Just cut out pop for sure!!!!
Yes eat more healthy.
Drink WATER when u get a snack attack.
Carry a small water bottle around, at all times!
Do some sit ups every night in bed, the bounce of the mattress helps!
Go for it!
