I think most of us, aside from our daily lives, only spend so much time reading or watching the news. We are only aware of key issues. Then, when a new issue comes up that people have not read before on, they immediately take sides on the issue without lengthy consideration because they are passively afraid people might view them as politically inactive.

Is it not better to admit that you are not knowledgable on the issue (partly because it doesnt effect your life) than to hastily stick with a point of view?

I do understand that most issues are not resolved if one knows everything about it because there is always new knowledge available but maybe our political stand points should grounded on multiple sources instead of whatever your party is feeding you?

Yes we are. I understand my deficient knowledge of political issues and refuse to vote on something I can't be sure of. I wish more people were as concerned with the issues facing us today. My Mother really makes me mad when she votes by assumptions she's made from things she hears on commercials or from other people instead of researching the issues properly for herself to make an educated informed decision. If people don't take the time to research current political issues I would prefer they not vote at all.

i fear that most of americans are about as knowladgable as you are, and that scares me come time for them all to go out and vote.

There ARE actually people out there that pay attention to more news and politics then the key headlines, and wouldn't look stupid if asked about it on the street with some TV guy.

a lot of people have taken a strong politcal stance because of vast knowledge and research, the problem is that a lot of people have also taken a strong political stance based on no knowledge and research.

One big consideration is your age & how many administrations
you have lived thru. There's nothing like experience.
Right now, this is worst, most selfish, clueless administration
I have ever seen. And politicans bashing each other, instead
of discussing the issues - it's disturbing to think these are
the people making decisions for the whole country.

If it looks like a fish, smells like a fish, and tastes like a fish it probably is a fish. Not everything is so complicated that it requires timidity. People understand a lot more than you think. The innate intelligence of the American people is constantly underestimated by politicians and pundits.

Most people just want to do what they're told. Of course they take a side fast, they've been trained to.

They also don't care if they know what they're talking about or not. Mostly seem proud of their ignorance.

Ask questions. Demand the truth.
