It means that you have to go and see the doctor...it's not anything fatal, though. Bumps are so common if a part of your body gets hit by something.

I have the exact same thing right this minute. I hit it on the CORNER of something. There is a huge-feeling bump.

It's just the trama area under the skin, you not only bruised the skin, but the muscles and ligaments under it, and that's its way of telling you its injured also. It should go down, as it heals, but if it doesnt, then seek medical help.
