I am on my feet for the entire shift at my job and am wondering what type of shoes would be best. I hear Crocs are good, but I'd rather do a tennis shoe.

I am hoping that there are no restrictions to the type of shoes that you can wear (for example, not all black/white or all leather). So this advice is without those limits. Standing on your feet all day long can cause pressure on the knees, lower back, hips, balls of your feet, and can go all the way into your neck and shoulders. Think shock absorbancy and cushioning.
Crocs, which you mentioned, go with the natural motion of your foot but there is no shock absorbancy in the shoes whatsoever.

ASICS makes absolutely wonderful shoes for people who stand on thier feet all day. The gel cushioning system in the shoes is amazing, you can't get better padding for the bottem of your feet. ASICS specializes in running shoes, which is good. Try the GEL-Keyano or the GT-2100. Those are the shoes that I typically sell to nurses.
Nike makes two awesome shoes for that type of cushion as well. The Nike Healthwalker and the Air MOTO have air max heels for give, an Zoom Air technology in the forefoot. Basically, walking on a cloud. Both are VERY available with retailers.
New Balance makes an awesome shoe as well, the NB 843. Stablitly, comfort, suede on the inside and all over maximum cushioning.
Good Luck!!!

I like to wear Nike Air with the entire air-cushioned sole. It's like walking on pillows.

Look into getting shoes that are designed for nurses.
