It's a fashion rule - only wear between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

People who say you should or shouldn't wear white after Labor Day are just fashion victims, wear what you want when you want as long as you are comfortable, and aren't offending people (as in you're not wearing a bikini in the office, or a t-shirt with a rude slogan on it - not in a wearing white after Labor Day thing).
