Delvecchio: his name is Gennaro, to do not be confused with the former National Marco Delvecchio (he is now playing in Serie A with Ascoli). He plays for Sampdoria and he is a strong midfielder who likes to score too. He has played in many semi-pro Team until 2003, when he was signed in Serie B with Catania. The year after he played in B with Perugia and last year he played in Serie A with Lecce. This year he plays with Sampdoria and he has already scored 3 goals. It looks like that Donadoni has a good feeling with this talented player.

Pasqual: him too, have played in minor Teams until 2004 when Arezzo (Serie B) signed him. The year after (2005) Fiorentina needed young players for its defense, and signed him up. Since then he has been one of the stronger players of the Team and especially last year, he has improved enormously and he has been already in Donadoni's National Team.

Barzagli: one of the WORLD CHAMPIONS. Same story for him too: played in minor Teams and in 2003 he gained the National attention playing for the Serie A Chievo-Verona. The year after he joined Palermo and since then he has gotten stronger. He played in the Olympics and with the Under 21 Italian Team. Lippi have brought him in Germany with the skepticism of many, but Barzagli has largely repaid the coach. He is a great defender, very strong in man-to-man marking and very good with his header too. In Germany he played two games and his performance was excellent (considering the young age).

Mauri: 26 year old midfielder from SS. Lazio, who joined last year. Previously he played with Udinese and he has some UEFA cup games too. I think this is the second time he joined the National Team (with Donadoni) and the chances of playing in 2008 Euro competition are very slim.

Di Michele: one of the biggest surprise in Donadoni's changes. Di Michele is 30 years old and there are many strikers in Italy who are younger and may deserve his spot in the National Team. He is a Serie A veteran and he is a good scorer. His best season were with Udinese where he scored almost 20 goals in one and half years. Last season, he was still playing with Udinese, but half of the tournament he was transferred to Palermo, where he scored 7 goals. He is excellent in dribbling and very good scorer, but like Mauri, I doubt he will be part of the 2008 Euro squad.

DI Natale: Another striker from Udinese. With Di Michele he has played and scored many goals in Udine. Di Natale is still with Udinese and he has been already called in the National Team by Donadoni. He is 29 years old and he is another surprising "call" from Donadoni. Excellent skill, fast runner, he has scored may goals with Udinese and with is previous Team Empoli. Another big question mark on his presence in the 2008 Euro competition.

Abbiati: 29 years old experienced goalkeeper. He played for AC Milan, Juventus, and this year he is with Torino. Last year, during a friendly game with AC Milan (pre-season), Juventus' goalkeeper Buffon had a serious injury, and AC Milan decided to transfer his 3rd keeper (Abbiati) to Juventus. His performance was very good until... Buffon returned. He has already played with the National Team and he has experience in Champions League too.

Amelia: Former Under 21 National Team player, former Italian Olympic Team player, he is one of the WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS (even though he never played a game in Germany). He plays for Livorno and he is considered one of the best goalkeepers in Italy, probably second only to Buffon.
