hmm. There had been rumors that some guys liked me before a, and I always like them back (even if i never thought about liking them), whether the rumor is true or not? Do I actually like them or is it just pity?

You like it that they like you, but you don't like them. For example let's just say there's a rumor that I like you and you heard that rumor. Then all of a sudden you start to like me. Only the truth is that you like it that I like you, but you don't have feelings toward me. It's like you find it attractive. It's not pity nor do you like them. What's the word I'm looking for that you girls tend to say a lot.....oh yeah..you find it cute that that guy likes you. Anyways peace out!

it's not pity but it probably isn't a genuine feeling either. It's human nature to tend to like those that like us and dislike those that dislike us. Obviously its not true all the time, but given the absence of any feelings for them one way or another before finding out what someone thinks of you, you are more likely to end up liking or disliking someone if you find out that they like or dislike you.

That depends on how old you are. If you are young...that's ususal because you are just new at (liking boys) but if you are over 16 you need to like yourself before you think about liking boys...get it?
