Are drivers in Illinois now required to "move over" or "slow down" when approaching an authorized emergency vehicle that is stopped on a highway?

I don't know. Wisconsin does.

That's been part of the "Rules of the Road," forever. It is also "posted" on the Interstates.

There is another "move over" law in IL. On a multi-lane highway, slower traffic is to use the right lane, leaving the left lane for faster moving vehicles. After you pass, you're supposed to get out of the left lane regardless of the speed.

yes we do but people still don't know what to do when emergency vehicles are approaching them. Its a miracle that the the emergency vehicles get to the hospital or the scene where they are going with out more incidents

you're suppose to move over for emergency vehicles and when approaching emergency vehicles, you're suppose to slow down and be prepared to stop.

It has always been law since I started driving 30 years ago. People are just worhtless if they don't move over

They are required to slow down when a fire truck, ambulance or police car is stopped on the expressway.

Yes, and some cops love pulling people over for not pulling over.

yes we do,you are supposed to pull over for police, EMT, any other emergency persons
