I don't personally believe that it is the Islam religion that is being targeted, at least not by the american public. Unfortuately it is the very small percentage radical groups within the Islam religion that make americans cousious. I believe everyone has the right to believe in any religion they want. As far as Bush goes I still think the man was clearly wrong for invading Iraq under the circimstances that he used. I think Saddam is a mad man as well, along with most of the officials he had under him. I would like to see a free government for Iraq. I do not think the United States should have been used to take him out of power. I will say I do not believe in war over religion. We will all die someday and we will all find out what is going to be their waiting for us when we get there. Where the Bible of the Karan is right is not a reason for people to kill over. We were all created equal and will all die equal no matter what part of the world your born in or what religion your brought up to believe in. In addition to race or color. It is all about faith in your beliefs. I think the majority of americans know that Islam is not a bad thing. It is just hard sometimes to forget that some of those radical groups took out the world trade center and have carried out numerious terrorist attacks around the world on innocent people. So personally I do not have a problem with Islam and I agree we all have our own problems with in our own governments. It really would be nice to have world peace. Unfortunately there are to many people that want to be in control. President Bush is one of those people. I did not vote for him and I thank god this is his last session in the White House. Hopefully we will get someone a little less combatant in the oval office that will make life better for everyone. Everyone knows that this Iraq and Afganistan War have cost the future tax payers in the US for years and years to come. Personally I am tired of all the blood shed. It needs to stop.

He didn't say anything that Clinton hadn't said before him:
"His (Saddam Hussein) regime threatens the safety of his people, the stability of his region, and the security of all the rest of us.
What if he fails to comply, and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of the sanctions and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made?
Well, he will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction.
And some day, some way, I guarantee you, he'll use the arsenal."
President Clinton
Address to Joint Chiefs of Staff and Pentagon staff

Don't forget that before 9/11 Islamic Extremists tried to blow up the WTC in 1993.
So if you don't believe that some Muslims are a threat to modern societies your are the epitome of the "head in the sand" type.
BTW, Bush One did invade Iraq in 1991. He did not go all the way to Baghdad as he wanted to because the UN was against it.

If this is a serious question, and not a rant, then I think your perception of American cultural attitudes to the Muslim world are pretty far off.
The common perception that I would argue is believed by most Americans is that the attitude of hate of the Middle East towards the U.S. has very little to do with the religion itself. In fact, Americans most likely believe that the poor economic and social conditions in the area allow for the common people to be very easily swayed by those in power (the Middle East is certainly not the only example of this in world history). In this particular case, the Muslim religion has been perverted by some as a tool of propaganda (once again, this is not the first time that a religion has been perverted by those with power to gain more power.)
To answer your question, I think that most Americans have already created their images and beliefs about Muslims before Bush ever came into office. Furthermore, your research on the PR of Bush seems to be seriously lacking. In every speech concerning the Islamic militant groups, Bush mentions that true Islam is a religion of peace. I imagine that it is easy to make this mistake if you are not in fact from America, and thus cannot dream of the extreme lengths of political correctness taken by our politicians.

I've never heard Bush say anything negative directly about Muslims or Islam. If he did I'm sure I would have heard it by now. However, although he would never be allowed to say such things his actions somewhat say different. He seems to have issues with the Middle Eastern countries. And the guy that answered about how poorer countries have common people who are easily swayed by their leaders into following them whether it be for good or bad.....well that's a little funny to me since I see the exact same thing happening in the US. There's many Americans who blindly follow Bush when it's so obvious to most others in the world that he's leading America down the wrong path. He too tries to use his Christianity as a tool to gain leverage. I don't see anything christian about what he's been doing in Iraq.

Every body misunderstanding Islam
What Does Islam Say about Terrorism?
Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God has said:
God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers. (Quran, 60:8)
The Prophet Muhammad used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children,1 and he would advise them: {...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.}2 And he also said: {Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.}3
Also, the Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire.4
He once listed murder as the second of the major sins,5 and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, {The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.6}7
Muslims are even encouraged to be kind to animals and are forbidden to hurt them. Once the Prophet Muhammad said: {A woman was punished because she imprisoned a cat until it died. On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth.}8
He also said that a man gave a very thirsty dog a drink, so God forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?” He said: {There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.}9
Additionally, while taking the life of an animal for food, Muslims are commanded to do so in a manner that causes the least amount of fright and suffering possible. The Prophet Muhammad said: {When you slaughter an animal, do so in the best way. One should sharpen his knife to reduce the suffering of the animal.}10
In light of these and other Islamic texts, the act of inciting terror in the hearts of defenseless civilians, the wholesale destruction of buildings and properties, the bombing and maiming of innocent men, women, and children are all forbidden and detestable acts according to Islam and the Muslims. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the vast majority have nothing to do with the violent events some have associated with Muslims. If an individual Muslim were to commit an act of terrorism, this person would be guilty of violating the laws of Islam.

Dude, what rock did you just crawl out from under? My dad once told me, son, believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. Like I need you or Bush to tell me what I see everyday. I don't hate anyone but boy does reality always get in the way of making you think in a particular way. Read the news today? Hamas and Fatah are fighting, WITH EACH OTHER! Eight(8) dead on the streets today! Yeah, I know, Bush somehow has something to do with it.....lol. Oh, and yeah I've heard the one about how we blew up the twin towers ourselves. Wake up, but don't fret, there are plenty of americans in denial too. Oh and the christian thing, that really showed your colors. You know whats funny, wait until they piss the chinese off, then your really going to see something.

Yes the majority of Americans dissaprove in Bush's running of the country, but very narrowly. on Friday CBS News said that it was 52%.
But saying that most americans think he is telling lies, is a big stretch. Most americans do not believe that.

i just watched a christian movement called some thing like kids on fire ,but its possably a media beatup ,we cant trust media sensationalism ,any fair thinking person knows media sensationalises every thing ,both of the parties no doudt have islamic members ,gwb can only repeat what he is being told ,he needs to keep things simple into a 30 second media grab ,he quite rightly reveals about terror ,no doudt he says to his advisers but if they ask me who they are what do i say ,they reply bin larden ,al quada ,he says what do they believe ,so he was no doudt called islamb ,but hes cot missrepresented the real answer is they believe in terror ,using excuses of religious beliefs ,
if beliefs were represented honestly we would beleve what ever religion we wanted ,but all beliefs have been missrepresented ,see the inquisition ,see these burning children ,no man of true belief in god ,indeed no woman of true belief would wish extreem and misled beliefs to do the vile and evil that evil people will allways want to do ,blaming one belief or the other
we got laws against descrimination about race and sex ,we also got one about belief ,but media cant make a headline about unbelievers so they link this latest form of descrimination to what ever the latest terror is ,i personally believe all the prophets our one god has sent ,but i berlieve believing they were all men ,and only god is perfect.
would the one god really be pleased with any man ,thats why god has grace upon all men, people needing to hate will allways find reason to hate ,right now good people attack smokers ,but they arnt good they are blamming others..by thier deeds ye shall know them ,..people hate because they need reasons to release fear ,to blame others ,..not themself,..people arnt stupid but mearly afraid..fear see mob mentallity ,will they pick on me next.
christians dont lead wars ,muslems dont lead wars only fools need war.true belief frightens those with no or but poor belief, prefering to blame others than admit self unbelief.
